Doctoral contracts
You want to make a thesis in maths or computer science ? And enjoy a first research experience in a laboratory labelized "d'excellence"?
The MILYON Labex offers each year:
- full funding for three years of thesis (CDD), in an academic environment in its research units
- partial funding for theses in co-supervision with foreign universities
Contract length
Duration of the contract: 36 months
Descriptive
The mission takes place in one of the research units of the Laboratoire d'Excellence MILYON :
- Camille Jordan Institute - Claude Bernard Lyon 1 University
- Laboratoire de l’Informatique du Parallélisme - ENS of Lyon
- Unité de Mathématiques Pures et Appliquées - ENS of Lyon
- Laboratoire de Physique - ENS of Lyon
- Laboratoire Hubert Curien (Data Intelligence Team) - Jean Monnet Saint Etienne University
It is up to the student to find a prospective director among the laboratories aforementioned.
The doctoral student carries out his research in the following main axes:
- fundamental and applied mathematics
- fundamental computer science, high performance computing, mathematical structures of proofs, computations, logic
- discrete mathematics at the interface of computer science
- machine learning and data science
- mathematical physics, statistical physics, signal processing, hydrodynamic turbulence
- applications of mathematics to medicine, biology and other interfaces of mathematics and fundamental computer science
Conditions of admissibility
Hold a master's degree in mathematics, computer science or theoretical physics
Required Skills
- To be able to understand the scientific procedures, have research skills and methodologies
- Have an editorial capacity for publication
- Master the dedicated software
- Know how to work in a team

- A resume
- A letter describing your project and your motivation (specifying the possible co-financing)
- A description of the subject of your thesis by the thesis director
- A letter of recommendation from a current science tutor
- Copies of your Master 1 and Master 2 (or last two undergraduate years) results

- Opening of the call: 28th April
- Closing date: 23th May (1:00pm GMT+1)
- Results: end of June
