Espace Ulys

Espace Ulys is the welcome center for international scientists arriving at the Lyon-Saint Etienne campus. The service provides assistance regarding relocation to PhD students and foreign researchers studying or conducting research at Université de Lyon institutions and laboratories.

The Espace Ulys team provides scientists with assistance for all administrative procedures regarding immigration, moving and integration, before and on arrival and during their stay.

The Espace Ulys gives advice and useful information on important aspects of the stay in France: residence permit, health insurance, accommodation, integration in Lyon and Saint-Etienne.

• Assistance in preparing your stay: information, downloadable checklists;
• Assistance in looking for an accommodation for newly arrived scientists;
• As part of the « Dispositif Talents » procedure in Lyon in regards to residence permits: a priviledged process at the Préfecture for « Passeport talent – chercheur », « Scientifique-chercheur » and their spouses’ residence permit application;
• In Saint-Etienne: help in constituting and applying for a residence permit at the Loire préfecture;
• Assistance in administrative formalities: health insurance, opening a bank account, …
• Integration support : french classes, support for accompanying spouses,
